This instant download PDF sewing pattern provides instructions for sewing your own sweet soft chicken plushie!
This pattern is for the stuffed hen only; the chick pattern can be purchased separately: https://www.wee-things.com/product-page/wee-little-chicks
This original Wee Things pattern is designed for use with knit fabrics--those with side-to-side stretch--and small pieces of felt. We recommend upcycled wool sweaters that have been lightly felted, or you can use a soft velour or sherpa fabric. The pattern includes variations for single-layer or lined wings (it can be fun to add a cotton pattern to the underside!), and also different ways to give your hens a personality with fancy feathered collars. Stuff them with wool or Polyfil and add optional embroidered details to make a toy that your children will enjoy for years to come!
This is a beginner-friendly sewing project, and it can be sewn on the sewing machine in about 1 hour from start to finished, or lovingly stitched by hand. The size of the finished hen will vary depending upon how much stretch your fabric has, but most will be around 5 to 6 inches from beak to tail. It scales well and can easily be increased to life-sized!
