Join me in this whimsical exploration of crafting with wool! After registering, students will be mailed a complete materials kit to make TWO Valentine owl gift boxes (kits are expected to mail by February 1st). The materials kit will include:

• cashmere knit fabric
• merino wool pre-felt
• merino wool roving
• wool batting
• plant-dyed wool felt
• needle-felting needle
• embroidery needle
• threads
• heart-shaped tin boxes (2)
• sewing templates

 These sweet little snowy owls are made through a combination of simple sewing and needle-felting techniques. They can be a great introduction for anyone wishing to try out these crafts! We will first cut, hand-sew, and stuff a cashmere body, and then we'll work to add the facial details and wings with needle felting. Each little owl will grip a brown felt branch in its claws and hang from a silk ribbon. They can be nestled into a soft bed of wool roving inside their festive metal heart-shaped box--ready for gifting to someone special! 

This class is beginner friendly and requires no previous sewing or felting experience. It is recommended for adults or very experienced older children (ages 12+).

The finished owls are approximately 2” tall, although the pattern may be scaled. Metal heart-shaped boxes are 2 3/4" wide by 1 1/2" high.
