Mushrooms are so enchanting in all their different shapes, colors, and sizes. Come enjoy a special afternoon of festive fungi stitching in this hand-sewing workshop, located in the recently renovated North Amherst Library's Community Room! In this beginner-friendly workshop for adults and teens/tweens, participants will hone their needlework skills as they hand sew felt mushroom shapes. We will cut, stitch, stuff, assemble, and embroider beautiful wool felt forms. We'll be using unique felt that has been hand-dyed by Rachel using only natural materials. You will see and feel the difference!

Rachel will guide the class through every step of the process, from dividing floss and threading the needle, to basic sewing stitches such as Whip Stitch and Blanket Stitch. For those looking for a more challenging finish, Rachel will also provide embroidery instruction, reviewing stitches such as French Knots, Stem Stitch, Feather Stitch, Fly Stitch and Chain Stitch.
